-
The word "spirituality" does not refer only to a Christian
concept. What does it mean to you? Does Dr. Sittler's definition of
spirituality help you? ("...that effort in life to interiorize and
drench the whole of life with the spirit of that which worships and
adores").
-
How do the tribe's legends provide "spirituality" for its
people?
-
Why is there now such a strong quest for spirituality? Is it
because life has become too involved with material concerns, too
superficial? How?
-
If it is true that "people's mind follow the motions of their
bodies with absolute seriousness," what does that mean about our
understanding of God today?
-
If Ann were a member of one of your congregations, would her
religious education be expanding at the same rate as her
understanding of geography (the study of our place in the universe)?
-
How can we begin to increase our understanding of God to meet
intellectual understanding of the universe of space and universe
seen under the microscope? Must we reject scientific development in
order to maintain our faith?
-
What Biblical passages describe God as Lord of the whole
universe, not just of our world or country?
-
Dr. Sittler says that it is dangerous to believe that the life
of the intellect is hazardous to spiritual growth. Do you agree? Why
or why not?
-
What aspects of modern life dull the mind and keep us from
awareness and appreciation of the wonders of creation?
-
Think about Dr. Sittler's new understanding of the "valley of
the shadow of death." When did you last suddenly understand
something new about a familiar Biblical story? What was it?
